  1. Planner

You cannot succeed in college without a planner. You need a planner to keep track of all your homework, assignments, school to-dos, home to-dos… e.t.c.

You can find planners everywhere. I usually buy mine at TJMaxx, Marshalls, Walmart, and Amazon.

The big planner is the planner I use for school. The small planner is my bullet journal.

3. Notebooks

There are a lot of notebooks on the market. Choose the ones that will help you write notes neatly.

I am a big fan of graph paper. It is so much easier to write equations or do math problems on graph paper.

I use the notebooks to take notes in class or to re-write my notes. The small squares help write the equations neatly and not waste paper.

Notepads are helpful to take notes during class. Especially because some of the desks at my school are small or uneven. When I finish taking and reviewing my notes, I put them in a folder for that specific class. Here is an example of how I take my notes:

I customized this clipboard with paper clips to keep my notes organized.

On the front, I write my class notes. When I open the clipboard I put the notes that I’m currently working on on the left, and on the right, I keep extra paper.

4. Flashcards

Flashcards are awesome to keep track of equations, especially in science classes or math classes. In my organic chemistry class, I had to remember equations from the previous exam and I had to learn new equations for the next exam. By the end of the semester, I had a stack of 50 index cards with equations that I needed to know for the final exam. I keep all my note cards together with a rubber band or a big paper clip.

I always use erasable pens to take notes and to write on my index cards. I don’t like the way whiteout looks when I’m reviewing my notes. If you are wondering, I used: Pilot FriXion Pens, and Pilot Frixion Erasable Highlighter.

Keep your flashcards up to date and neatly organized. Only put on them what you really need to remember and know.

The small or regular index card size (4×6) are too small for me, I prefer the big size (5×8).

5. Sticky notes!

Sticky notes are amazing for bookmarking and/or taking small notes. For me, everything needs to have a label, a name, a folder, and a date.

6. Binders and Folders

Binders are a must, just like planners. They help you keep everything in one place and you can use dividers to separate assignments. I always name my folders, that way when I finish with the class, I can neatly store them with my other folders for future reference.

7. Ipad or Laptop

You need to write a lot of reports and papers in college. I like to use my iPad as my laptop. I have the word application and other apps that help me take notes in class. I bought a keyboard to help me take notes faster. You will never regret getting an iPad or tablet for school, it makes your life so much easier!

If you are wondering, I have the Logitech Type+ Protective Case. I bought this iPad case refurbished. It works as if it was new, I don’t regret getting it second hand at all.
